Iliesco to compete at Rabat

Nathalie Iliesco is the only Canadian athlete who is competing at the Rabat 2017 World Taekwondo Grand-Prix in the F+67kg weight category. The event is scheduled for 22-24 September 2017 in Rabat, Morocco.

A total of 225 athletes will be in action in the first Grand-Prix ever hosted in the continent of Africa. Nathalie is fighting against Madelynn Gorman-Shore from the USA in the first round.

“I have been training hard,” said Nathalie, who has a packed schedule for the remaining of the year. “I will be in Montreal attending the 2017 Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships and the Canada Open after the Rabat Grand Prix. After that, I will attend the President’s Cup and the Third Grand Prix in London.  I am physically and mentally prepared for the upcoming competitions. I just want to give it my all and perform.”

Nathalie Iliesco represented Team Canada at the 2017 WT World Taekwondo Championships and finished 9th in the F-73kg division.

“Between the Worlds and this Grand Prix, I have been working on keeping the pressure on my opponent. I worked on using my strength to be physical in the clinch. I worked on other weaknesses and strengths, but the beauty of this sport is that improving is limitless”.

“I need all the support I can get. Everyone’s encouragement is appreciated!”

Nathalie will be coached by Master Johansen from Denmark. Her category is scheduled for September 22 starting at 9am, local time (September 22, 4am EST).  You can find her draw sheet here.

Let’s go, Nathalie!
